We reveal all the changes that the Audi e-tron will undergo in its renewal

The Audi e-tron was the first of its kind in the house with the four rings. Although those of Ingosltadt already have experience in the field of electric cars, the e-tron embarked on a path that today Audi has expanded with the arrival of new and interesting units. Launched in the year 2018, many things have changed since then. The Audi e-tron will premiere this year important novelties for the second half of its commercial cycle. These are the most important changes that we hope to know about:

New name

The fact of being the first served Audi to make the name e-tron known to the world, but today it is already a problem since it does not follow any common nomenclature pattern, as it does with the Audi Q4 e-tron, for example. For this reason it is rumored that the next name becomes Audi Q8 e-tron in order to better fit it into the range. If this transformation is completed, the only one left to change its name would be the Audi e-tron GT, although Audi will try to solve this problem later.

More autonomy

In just four years since the launch of the e-tron, electrical technology has improved considerably. The most modern electric ones are capable of rolling for many kilometers with the same battery capacities. The e-tron has never stood out for its consumption or its autonomy. Currently the best range is 404 kilometers, a somewhat poor figure considering that it mounts batteries of up to 86.5 kWh of net capacity.

The many improvements at the mechanical level will allow it to offer better consumption and autonomy data

Estimates point to a increase in autonomy up to 600 kilometers. A notable increase in battery capacity is not expected, although it may occur, but a better optimization of consumption is expected, thus reducing the current official data that is between 24.4 and 27 kWh per 100 kilometers traveled. Better management, new high-efficiency engines and remote updates that will allow capacity to be increased on a regular basis.

More technology

With much data still to be confirmed, Audi wants its next Q8 e-tron to meet the highest quality and technology requirements of the house. The interior presentation will be very striking, although we do not expect it to change much from what we already know. New driving assistants with a higher degree of autonomy will be implementedall this without changing the platform on which it rests, the MLB structure that is designed primarily for high-end thermal models.

Audi is expected to debut the new e-tron later this year.. The tests have been completed for some time in different environments, from the polar cold to the scorching heat. With all the expected changes, and those that remain to be known, it is clear that the first new generation electric car from Ingolstadt will once again position itself as a reference in the category, where it currently already has important rivals such as the BMW iX3.
