As has happened with the new BMW i7, which is based on the 7 Series, the BMW 5 Series will also have a fully electric version which will be called BMW i5, and which has been spotted during its final phase of testing, revealing several aspects about its design, as well as several images related to its interior.
Regarding the latest spy photos that we could see of the next BMW 5 Series and its electric version, in the new batch of images a new headlight designwhich will definitely go into production, and with which we can get an idea of the next step in this section within BMW.
A design that we will presumably also see in the electric BMW iX1, since the forms of daylight seem similar to the one that BMW previously hinted at for the new electric SUV. However, hethe tonic is not repeated in the rearwhere we continue to find the provisional test pilots that usually equip the units of the models that are in development.
On this occasion, the spying photographers have managed to peek inside the BMW i5, and although as usual when it comes to a test mule or a camouflaged unit, it was pertinently covered to hide from the cameras, there are aspects that cannot be hide.
As expected, BMW will extend to the new Series and the i5 the interior design that we have seen in the latest models launched on the market by the firm, such as the BMW iX and its flagship, the 7 Series and the electric i7.
Despite the canvas that covers the dashboard, its forms suggest that BMW will choose to incorporate into its new model a panel that runs along it, made up of two different screens that stand almost vertically. The central console shows a button and design inherited from the 7 Series through which the central screen will be controlled, commanded by the new system iDrive8.
Its technical part will be based on the CLAR electrical architecture on which BMW is developing all its electric cars, which in turn derives from a platform for internal combustion models. It is expected that with a full charge of its battery, the BMW i5 will have a range of around 600 kilometers based on the WLTP cycle, just like the BMW i4 and i7.
Price and arrival date of the electric BMW i5
BMW, at the moment, does not have a specific arrival date for its production, and although its arrival is scheduled for 2023, based on the progress of its development, the brand could present it during this same year to make it arrive. to the streets during the next exercise.
Its price, of course, is not yet specified, although it will be between the 61,900 euros price of the BMW i4 (the model immediately below within BMW) and the 76,000 euros price of the Mercedes-Benz EQE electric (its most direct rival).
