Smart is in the process of change. Throughout its history, the urban company has gone through different stages. From the production of vehicles with small gasoline engines to being pioneers in the 100% electric transformation. After the transfer of Daimler to Geely, the brand is more alive than ever thanks to its complete renovation. A new stage that does not forget the past. The Smart #1 Brabus is presented in partnership with a well-known association, but loaded with important new features.
The Smart #1 is the new product of the new era of the company, now under the control of the Chinese. Although the name remains, the size grows towards a new horizon, towards that of the 100% electric B-SUV. Smart has decided to attack the incipient niche in which other interesting models already militate, such as the Peugeot e-2008, the Opel Mokka-e and other important novelties that will soon join the party, such as the completely updated KIA e-Niro, the model most important within the category at the moment.
Unlike all of them, Smart seeks to attract a customer with a little more purchasing power and who is looking for a completely different urban electric. This is where the close collaboration that has always united the company with Brabus, the famous German manufacturer specializing in offering high-performance versions of street cars, emerges once again. The result is obvious, a model that offers as good looks as it performs.
Externally, a body kit is offered that improves the sporty presence. Particular elements such as the 19-inch wheels or the set of contrasts with red, a symbol of sportsmanship. The opening of two small sheets on the front also stands out, although everything indicates that they are more decorative than functional. From doors to inside, the same color combination stands out again. The sporty character is emphasized in the details, such as the red stitching or the use of sporty materials such as aluminum on the pedals or the suede on some details.
However, what gets the most attention in the Brabus treatment of Smart #1 is the mechanics. The tuner has worked his magic on the powertrain, although there are no official performance figures at the moment. Everything points to a power output close to 400 horsepower with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. All this without changing the battery that we already knew with 66 kWh capacity.
As for autonomy, neither Brabus nor Smart have communicated anything about what will be the loss suffered due to the improvement in performance. You won’t have to wait long either. know all the details of the long-awaited sports version since its official presentation will take place on August 26. The event will take place at the Chengdu Motor Show, it will be then when we clear up doubts, also communicating the official arrival date in Europe.
