The Porsche Taycan gains efficiency and multimedia technology in its new update

Porsche has just announced an update for the Taycan. This model was released on the market at the end of 2019 and has since gotten subtle software updates. Nevertheless, the German firm has presented some new improvements in both software and hardware for next autumn, and that most of them will be able to be attached to vehicles already registered. Among the novelties that this update of the Porsche electric model will bring will be available the ability to open the car “without a key” (FoD)although this can be implemented through an installation via OTA and for which an additional price will have to be paid yet to be determined.

With regard to the dynamic section, the Porsche Taycan software update may almost completely “disconnect” the front axle when driving in Normal or Range mode, thus propelling only the rear axle and saving a considerable volume of energy. In addition, the level of regenerative braking will be maintained even when switching between different driving modes; will also feature a improved battery thermal management to be able to recharge faster, especially when the outside temperature is especially low.

The parking sensors on the ParkAssist function will also receive a small tune-up to make their reading more accurate. The built-in charging station locator in the model browser will now be able to identify and filter according to the type of charger and its charging power. Additionally, it will make use of the so-called Plug & Charge function that will allow the vehicle to be refueled and paid without the need to use a specific card or application, since all the data related to identification and payment are registered in the vehicle.

New features will also be implemented in the hardware section. These, unlike the software update, will be exclusively for new models purchased from next fall.
