Polestar knows very well where to turn to prove its worth. The climb to the hill of Goodwood is not the most demanding event in the world, but it is certainly one of the best scenarios to make an appearance. The annual soiree put on by Lord March has become a place of pilgrimage for all four-wheel lovers. For a weekend, the 1,860 meters of the special route become the world epicenter of the motor world. It will be there where the Polestar 5 makes an appearance for the first time in physical form.
It should not be forgotten that Polestar was born as the sports and high-performance division of Volvo. Although Geely is now the one that has taken advantage of the name to manufacture electric cars, the competition DNA has not been hidden. The Polestar 5, which will be a sedan larger than the Polestar 2, will be unveiled in prototype form at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will take part in the hill climb.
That prototype, which will end up being the final product to a large extent, will demonstrate the excellent performance of the sports version of the four-door GT sedan that we were able to fully discover just a few days ago through the sketches of its patent. It will not be the only car in the family to participate in the massive event, as Polestar has scheduled a whole agenda of activities to publicize the brand before the thousands of attendees that are expected and before the thousands of spectators that will gather through the public broadcast.
What we should expect is a sports sedan very similar to the Polestar Precept prototype introduced a year ago. That concept car is the inspiration for the Polestar 5, which will also feature more restrained versions. On a mechanical level, at the end of last year it was pointed out that the Swedish brand was working in a high-performance electrical configuration able to stand up to Porsche. An electrical scheme of 640 horses that, surely, will be the one equipped in the Goodwood FoS prototype.
The big event will take place on June 23. For those who are lucky enough to be able to attend in person, Polestar will set up a large tent where it will show several units, in addition to the Polestar 2 or its most radical version, the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270, which will also participate in the ascent. Joining them will be the Precept and the Polestar O2, the roadster with an imposing presence. In addition to exposing his creatures, it will also be allowed to do test loops with a Polestar 2 to the delight of visitors.
