The Peugeot e-208 (and the rest of the range) have planned a half life renovation for next year, which will basically consist of a facelift and some technical improvements that are not yet known. However, the French firm is not going to wait that long to introduce an important novelty in the range. It will be this same fall when will it incorporate a new versionaccording to an internal technical document published by the Wordscoop forum which would achieve an autonomy of 400 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.
At the end of 2021, Peugeot carried out a series of optimizations on the e-208 shared with the rest of the Stellantis electric cars that share its platform, such as e-2008, the Opel Corsa-e, Opel Mokka-e. Keeping the same 50 kWh capacity lithium-ion battery, of which 46.2 kWh are actually usable, and the same 100 kW power motor (136 hp), the changes focused on the reduction gear ratio of the single-speed transmission, so engine speed range was optimized.
In addition, the addition of a hygrometer, an instrument that measures the humidity of the air, made it possible to optimize the operation of the heating and air conditioning system in the passenger compartment, which translates into lower energy consumption and greater autonomy than can be achieved. enjoy especially in cold climates. With these changes the Peugeot e-208 went from homologating 340 kilometers to 362, according to the WLTP cycle. The brand itself compensated for part of the difference that the Renault ZOE achieves with the 395 kilometers that its latest generation homologates.
According to the internal document leaked in this forum, the 400 kilometers of autonomy that are announced for the e-208 will be achieved with a new version that will be positioned as the basic variant within the e-208 range. This first finish, the Like, will most likely have smaller diameter wheels, 15 inches instead of the 16 that the e-208 Active mounts, which is currently the lowest equipment available.

But the most important variation with which this upper limit of autonomy is achieved is the new engine manufactured by Emotors, the joint venture created in 2018 between Stellantis and the Japanese company Nidec, which is based in the Carrière-sous-Poissy factory. in the Paris region, which will be responsible for manufacturing the electric motors for the entire group.
The engine announced for the end of 2022 will be called M3 and is designed to operate on an electrical system of 400 volts and will be capable of generating power ranging from 100 to 150 kW (136-204 hp). The e-208 would maintain the power provided by the 100 kW electric motor that Stellantis currently mounts in its models based on the e-CMP or EMP2 platform, which continues to come from the German supplier Vitesco Technologies.
With this new basic finish, the Peugeot e-208 range grows with a more basic finish and therefore cheaperwhich, supported by the aid offered by each state for the purchase of electric vehicles, will reduce its entry price, making it more competitive.
