The new Mercedes GLC arrives as one of the plug-in hybrids with more autonomy

The mercedes glc It is one of the most important models of the house. Due to its size and positioning, the GLC has been able to conquer the premium market. Present on the market since 2008, at that time it was called GLK, the GLC has already accumulated three generations. The last of them has just been presented, and although it may not seem like it by design, it introduces important innovations at a technological and, above all, mechanical level, embracing electrification in all its forms.

Being such an important car for Mercedes, those from Stuttgart have not risked too much with the aesthetic change. The new Mercedes GLC can well be confused with the previous one, although all the body panels have been modified. Same proportions for a more elegant and sporty design that, of course, increases its size compared to the previous generation: 4.72 meters long, 2.07 meters wide and 1.64 meters high with a wheelbase of 2.89 meters. The trunk covers a minimum of 600 litres, 50 more than the previous model.

Although on the outside we are not talking about a radical change, we can say the opposite on the inside. The Mercedes GLC had become obsolete considering the new standards of the house. From now on it is presented with the same double split screen scheme. One fulfilling the functions of the instrument panel and the other, in a central and inclined position, serving as the main and only axis of the multimedia system. It is the same arrangement that we can see in other Mercedes cars, such as the S-Class and the Mercedes C-Class.

With a 31.2 kWh gross capacity battery, the GLC shows three possible plug-in hybrid configurations: GLC 300e, GLC 400e and GLC 300de 4MATIC. The latter uses a diesel engine, unlike previous units that use the same two-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine.

With powers between 313 and 385 horsepower, the official electric autonomies reach 120 kilometers, 117 for diesel. As a novelty, the plug-in hybrid versions recognize urban transit areas, entering electric mode automatically.
