After the separation of Smart from the Daimler Group, the brand is experiencing a new stage at the hands of Geely. The Chinese are back on track with so many changes that we could talk about a completely new brand. Its first product, the Smart #1, makes clear the new direction of a brand that will only offer electric models. A few days ago we were able to meet the new Smart #1 in person, but it has not been until today when its marketing stage has started. It is already possible to reserve one of the first 74 initial units that are going to reach our market.
If you are looking for a manageable electric, with good finishes and an exclusive approach, you are already taking time to book the #1 Smart. The launch edition will be one of the most exclusive models on the market. With a production limited to 1,000 units for all of Europe, only 74 of them will arrive in our country. Smart has already kicked off the reserves. Few units that will fly off the company’s shelves.
The special edition of the Smart #1 will have personalized details such as a exclusive color combination: Digital White bodywork, Platinum Gold roof and Bold White leather upholstery. In addition to that, it will show off details like a checkered flag on the panoramic roof on the 19-inch wheels, on the seats and on the dashboard. Finally, the “Launch Edition” badges will be integrated into the rear doors and the unit number recognition plate in the center console.
As expected, the Smart #1 Launch Edition will have the most complete equipment of the house, highlighting elements such as adaptive LED headlights, leather seats, Head-Up Display, Beats Audio sound system, 360º camera, sunroof, ambient lighting, level 2+ autonomous driving, mobile app with remote control, central screen of 12.8-inch, digital instrumentation with 9.2-inch panel and electric and body-integrated door handles. Everything that the electric utility can offer.
At the mechanical level there is only one possible configuration. With a 62 kWh net capacity battery and a 272 horsepower motor and 343 Nm on the rear axle, the Smart #1 shows a Approved autonomy of up to 440 kilometers with a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour. For recharging, high-power systems are chosen, up to 150 kW in direct current and up to 22 kW in alternating current, which allows the battery to recover from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes under ideal conditions.
Although the final sale price has not yet been made official, the first customers will be able to reserve one of the launch units upon payment of a reservation of 500 euros, which will be deducted from the final price of the car.
