The first special edition of the Porsche Taycan pays homage to a mythical circuit

Porsche is adept at releasing special editions of its models, but it was missing one to receive one of these special treatments: the electric Taycan. Now, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Hockenheimring, Porsche is presenting the first special edition of its electric car: the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition.

The history of Porsche cannot be understood without racing, and vice versa. And with him Hockenheim circuit has a special connection, hence this very special model was born, which has the stamp of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The fundamental principle when designing this model has been to relate the motto of the anniversary of the German circuit, “mobile evolution”, with the concept of “traditional elegance”.

And to show off that traditional elegance, the Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition wears a Stone Gray paint, from Porsche’s custom color palette and exclusive to this edition, with Bronzite accents. Precisely the Bronzite color tries to evoke the classic metallic tones and provide a distinguished and elegant touch.

shoe the ‘Mission E Design’ rims with 21 inches in diameter and painted in two tones: the edges are in the same Gray Stone color as the body, while the five spokes and the central part are painted in Bronzite with a satin finish. The brake calipers, meanwhile, are painted gloss black.

Exclusive details are present both on the outside and in the cabin

The exterior also comes with SportDesign trim strips on the side skirts painted in Bronzite color. This color is also present on the rear diffuser and in the ‘Taycan GTS’ model designation on the rear boot lid. On the B-pillar is a plaque with the anniversary logo printed in relief, referring to the motif of the special edition. The words ‘Hockenheimring Edition’ next to the logo are also painted in Stone Grey.

The exclusive details continue inside. The Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur division has customized the interior with black leather, Island Verde accent stitching and Paldao wood trim with open pores. This color combination is unprecedented in the Taycan, so exclusivity is assured.

The color Bronzite is also present in elements such as the gear selector lever, the cup holders, the central and side ventilation outlets and the surround of the buttons on the GT sports steering wheel. For its part, Island Green is present on the contrast stitching inside the steering wheel rim and on the 12 o’clock mark, as well as on the decorative stitching on the mats.

There is no lack of ’90 Jahre Hockenheimring’ emblems in various places such as the headrests or the central armrest, and when the door is opened, a 90 and the silhouette of the circuit are projected on the ground. The Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s attention to detail is again noticeable in the car key, which is painted in the same body color and laser-engraved with the emblem of this special edition.

The interior is dressed in black leather with Island Verde stitching and Paldao wood trim.

At a performance level, we have a real technical deployment of which we have good references after having tested the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. We are talking about two permanent magnet synchronous motors, one on each axis, with a maximum power of 598 hp and up to 850 Nm of torque engine. It is capable of doing 0-160 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reaches 250 km/h top speed.

The Taycan GTS mounts the 93.4 kWh capacity battery, which Porsche calls ‘High Performance Battery Plus’. It offers up to 504 kilometers of autonomy in the WLTP combined cycle. It is also equipped with adaptive air suspension with PASM system and Smart Lift function, PTV Plus active limited-slip rear differential and front brakes with 390 mm discs and 6-piston calipers (358 mm and 4-piston rear), among others.

In addition, the Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition allows the exclusive access to certain activities within the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) located at the Hockenheim circuit. With the vehicle key, customers can identify themselves as owners of the special series and enjoy some advantages such as driving on the test track, free use of electric chargers for two years or having priority parking at the so-called “Frühschicht ” (monthly meetings for Porsche fans) that take place in the center.
