Polestar today confirmed the decision to bring the last of its concept electric cars into production. This is the Polestar O2, a model that will hit the manufacturing lines of the brand under the name Polestar 6.
This has been made known by the company itself this Tuesday, confirming in passing that they plan to complete their development before 2026, since it will be in this year when the model begins its commercialization. Production of the model is scheduled to take place at Polestar’s Chinese factory in the city of Chongqing, where the Polestar 5, an electric sedan similar to the Porsche Taycan derived from the Polestar Precept concept, will also be produced.
So that, the Polestar 6 will become the brand’s halo car not only because of its striking and unusual concept (there are still no electric convertibles), but also because of the superlative numbers that will take center stage on its technical sheet.

Polestar 6 will be designed on Polestar’s welded aluminum architecture, whose rated voltage is 800Vwhich among other aspects means that it will be able to deliver very high power figures much more efficiently than a 400 V one, as well as charging powers that will allow charging in very short periods of time.
Although the specifications and other technical details will be made public when the series production model becomes a reality in 2026, it is to be hoped that the performance of this model will not differ too much from that of the concept model. The Polestar O2 has a combined power of 880 hp (650 kW) and 800 Nm of torque thanks to its double electric motor scheme. With this you will be able to speed up 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.2 secondswhile the maximum speed will be limited to 250 kilometers per hour.
As was the case with the Polestar Precept, according to the CEO of the brand, Thomas Ingelaht, what has led them to confirm the entry into production of the Polestar 6 has been the excellent response from both the specialized press and the general public. . “The reception among consumers and the press was so positive that we made the decision to put this extraordinary roadster into production. For me it is like a dream come true. The Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of a powerful electric motor and the thrill of driving. outdoors with the hood up”.

With this confirmation, a niche category begins to appear on the horizon, to which promising models such as the Tesla Roadster or the next generation of the Porsche 718, which will be electric, will be the first to arrive. Nor does Mercedes-AMG want to miss the opportunity to enter the category, since they are also proposing an electric car similar to the Mercedes-AMG GT, perhaps a lower model that is at the same level as the already defunct SLC to compete directly against the Porsche 718.
