The Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback will be an electric SUV coupe that will hit the market in 2024

The PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform is to become the cornerstone of the forthcoming electric strategy of the entire Volkswagen Group. The new specific architecture for electric cars will officially debut in the next launches of Audi and Porsche. On it, new models and new bodies will be built, such as that of the Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback. The coupe electric SUV has just announced its launch date for the year 2024a course later than its brother, the Audi Q6 e-tron.

Everyone assumed that the Q6 would have a coupé body, although the launch date was still to be confirmed.. Despite the announced plans, it would not be surprising that both the Q6 e-tron and the Q6 e-tron Sportback suffer some delay caused by the delay in the development of control and management software. Such work is carried out by the subsidiary company of the Volkswagen Group, Cariad, which accumulates many months of delay in the specific work for the models of the PPE platform.

These problems have already caused the launch date of the Porsche Macan to be postponed until 2024, when everything indicated that it would be available from the second half of 2023. At the moment Audi has not declared anything about it, although yes he fears that finally the projects of the Q6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron Sportback suffer the same fatealthough they hope it is not. At the moment the plans follow the marked course without major setbacks.

The Sportback body will offer a sportier point of view.

As for what we expect to see in the Q6 e-tron, it is the same strategy that Audi already employs in the rest of the range. Sportback bodies represent models with a more creative approach and coupe line. The final look of the Q6 remains to be seen, but when we see it in full we’ll just have to paint a sportier roofline to complete the look of the Sportback body. Examples are the Audi e-tron and Audi e-tron Sportback.

In addition to a more striking design, the coupe body is also expected to offer a higher dynamic point, although high-performance versions can be expected in both models, as we already showed you with the images of the Audi RS Q6 e-tron test mules. Power and aesthetics will not be its only arguments, it will also be necessary to add advanced technology and a mechanical structure capable of offering long autonomies. At the moment many details remain to be known, but the release date is no longer one of them.
