Nobody can deny that Aiways is going much further than some would have thought. Without the support of a large corporation, the Chinese manufacturer launches the second of its products on the market. The Aiways U6 already accepts reservations in China, and although it will still take a few months to reach Europe -its launch is scheduled for the last weeks of the year-, we can already know some aspects of this interesting electric crossover.
Little by little and doing things well, Aiways has managed to surprise locals and strangers. The Aiways U5 has been on the market for some time, just a few months in Spain, but it is attracting the attention of many people. Although they are not associated with any other major manufacturer, nothing has prevented the creation of an electric at a reasonable price and very good arguments. Quality, space and excellent performance are its main qualities.
Based on the U5, the Aiways U6 leaves its prototype stage behind. Until now we had known him as U6ion. At an aesthetic level, no great changes are appreciated with the exposure unit. He highlights the few similarities he has with his brother. In this case, the creators of Aiways have tried to approach the design from a more sporty and muscular point of view. Sharp lines, broad shoulders and a coupe-shaped roof that slopes down steeply from the C-pillar to a very attractive rear where the rear headlights joined by an LED strip stand out.
From doors to the inside, the aspect it presents is really interesting. At the front, passengers enjoy a clean and minimalist area. The total absence of physical buttons stands out. All the functionalities of the car are collected on a large touch screen in the purest Tesla style. It highlights the combination of colors and the good feeling of quality that it throws, something that is already present in the U5. Aiways has not reported dimensions or capacities, although a trunk with a capacity of more than 450 liters is expected.

At the mechanical level The Chinese version of the U6 offers three different battery versions: 63, 72 and 88 kWh capacity, which will allow autonomy of 503, 580 and 650 kilometers, respectively. Next to that battery is a single motor with a power of 160 kW (215 horsepower). The batteries are manufactured by CATL, which once again joins the Aiways project as it did previously with the U5. The brand has not provided much data, although it has highlighted a drag coefficient of only 0.26.
Order books are now open in China. For a few days Aiways admits the first reservations for its brand new crossover coupé. There are no definitive prices, although interested clients will have to pay a reservation of 6,000 yuan, about 870 euros. It is still unknown what commercial offer will arrive in Europe, although it must be borne in mind that the U5 currently sports the 63 kWh capacity package. The landing will take place in the last quarter of the year, at the moment the sale price is unknown.
