Stellantis presents Electric As You Go a renting for electric cars

The Stellantis Group wants to become a benchmark within the new mobility strategies. The French conglomerate has a wide range of products and services related to mobility in its product portfolio. From now on add one more, the Electric As You Go program. It is a long-term rental service for electric cars that will allow many drivers to enter electric mobility at a very affordable cost.

At the moment the program will only be available in France, but company directors have confirmed that they hope to be able to introduce it in other countries in the near future. In France, the initial offer will include only three models: Peugeot e-208, Opel Corsa-e and Opel Mokka-e. As before, the company hopes to be able to expand the vehicle portfolio shortly, although they first want to explore the success of this new commercial format. If everything goes correctly, units such as the Citroën ë-Berlingo or the Citroën ë-C4 could be added.

The main objective of the program is to offer the opportunity to better adapt the total cost of the vehicle to its actual use.”, Announces Stellantis through a statement. “It is a long-term rental that requires a competitive initial payment and an unbeatable monthly rate, in addition to a variable cost calculated on the kilometers actually traveled thanks to the connectivity function integrated in all the Group’s BEVs”. That is, a monthly fee and an additional payment for mileage will be paid.

The Opel Mokka-e will be available from the outset with a variable cost depending on mileage

In one example the program Electric As You Go will offer services that will start from a fixed cost of 110 euros per month plus a cost of 7 cents per kilometer. In an estimate of 500 kilometers covered in a month, the total cost of the monthly payment would be 145 euros, 110 of the fixed fee plus an additional 35 euros for the kilometers travelled. An affordable expense, although some details remain to be known, such as the entry payment and special conditions. To all this we must also add the expense of the charging point.

As we have already said, for the moment it will only be available in France, where Electric As You Go is starting as a pilot program that will measure the viability of the service in the coming months. For now, the company has announced that the offer will not be open to all customers, but to those individuals who also need to scrap an old combustion car: “In France, customers are eligible for the offer when they purchase an electric car and exchange another for scrap.

As for prices, it has been reported that these may differ depending on the selected model and the contracted service package. When exporting the Electric As You Go program, Stellantis has confirmed that prices may also vary depending on local subsidies and regulations. The entire service program is included within the Stellantis strategic plan for 2030, with which they hope to be able to offer adapted mobility services to customers to favor the change in mobility.
