The previous generation of the Scott Addict eRide had the electric assistance system Mahle X35 accompanied by a 250 Wh capacity battery. Its carbon frame and the reduced weight of this system led the American manufacturer to ensure that it was “the electric road bike lightest in the world”. Now, with the update of the transmission system to the new Mahle X20, which reduces the weight of the previous one by 250 grams and is smaller in size and more technologically sophisticated, this bicycle becomes the market benchmark for lightness.
The previous electric motor of the Scott Addict eRide generated a power of up to 250 W, the limit required by the regulations for electric vehicles EPAC and 40 N m of torque. It relied on a small capacity battery, 250Wh, mounted on the diagonal bar. It was to be expected that Scott would update the Scott Addict RE eRide family of electric road bikes following the introduction of Mahle’s new drive system, the X20. This motor, placed directly on the rear wheel huboffers relatively low torque, with no gear reduction or transmission losses.
mahle the feeling of assistance has improved to make it more natural by implementing two new sensors that measure torque and cadence and which are mounted on the bottom bracket. In this way, the level of motor assistance will increase smoothly to match the input of the cyclist’s demand, thanks to the intervention of software that uses artificial intelligence in its programming and that is capable of managing the data sent by the sensors in real time.

The new x20 system is 300 grams lighter than the previous X35, with a smaller diameter hub, which is stealthier, longer range and almost no perceptible system drag when the motor is not engaged. Provides smoother pedal-assist power with new sensors and AI power management.
It works with 12mm thru axles, has a quick connect power coupler in the dropout and is now compatible with Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo 10-13 speed cassettes. It also has a more informative controller and ANT+ head unit options with remote control buttons. The X20 pedal assist is also more customizable thanks to the new Mahle ONE mobile app that allows riders to adjust the power of each of the three assist modes, plus an AI-controlled fourth automatic mode.

This is a much more refined solution for a stealthy, lightweight and very natural power assist system that pairs well with narrow tires for the higher average speeds of road and gravel bikes.
Scott Addict eRide Electric Bike Details
The frame The Scott Addict eRide is very similar to the previous generation. This is a lightweight carbon frame with fast handling geometry almost the same as the Addict RC road bike, only with a slightly shorter reach and a slightly higher Stack (vertical distance perpendicular to the ground from the bottom bracket horizontal to the top tube of the head tube). All cables are routed inside with flat mount disc brakes, front and rear 12mm thru-axles, and 30mm road tires with clearance to widen them up a bit more. Only the Mahle controller located on the top tube and the charging port cover next to the front derailleur give it away as an electric bike.
Is available in five models that share the HMX carbon frame weighing 1,040 grams, and the same Mahle X20 transmission system, which, in addition to the motor mentioned above, has a battery of 236Wh. The Ultimate version, the top of the range, includes a range extender battery in the place where the bottle of water whose capacity is of 172Wh. With all this, the final weight of the bicycle is 10.5 kilograms.
