After months of leaks and some publications in the form of a teaser of the MG Cyberster EV, the firm of British origin has once again slightly shown its next electric convertible model in a video in which shows new appendages that the sports car will have. In the first instance, this is drawn as the electric alternative to the current Mazda MX-5.
MG has published a new video on his different social network profiles where he wanted to slightly show some details. Among them you can see the small ducktail rear spoiler, some decorative appendages that simulate air inlets or outlets, as well as its optical groups with LED technology, where they focus a large part of the published footage. Additionally, there are also parts that we already knew the production model will bring, such as its yoke steering wheel, its scissor doors with vertical opening or the seats decorated in double tone.
However, the firm has titled its publication as “Return of the Legend” which presupposes its link with some mythical sports model of the company. According to multiple sources, the British firm registered earlier this year the name MG C EVa name that refers to a variant of the classic MG B, which had a 6-cylinder engine block and which marked the sports canons at the end of the 60s.

During the video you can see the type of opening of your canvas roof, which is automatic and takes a mechanism really similar to that of the Mazda MX-5, although in the Japanese model its opening or closing is done manually. The similarities between these two vehicles do not happen by chance, since MG wants to put on the market a 100% electric alternative to the mythical model of Mazda. Its dimensions will be very even, as well as the very conception of the vehicle: two-seater, elongated nose, rear-wheel drive (presumably), light weight, reduced dimensions and a set-up focused on driving fun.
The model is presumed to have a very advanced development throughout the footage, which suggests an official presentation very soon in the time. However, rumors speak of its arrival on the market in 2024, for which there are still more than 2 years left.
However, despite knowing many of the details that the MG Cyberster will have, at the moment it is unknown what electrical mechanics it will host under its bodywork. The first data on the original conceptual model spoke of a range close to 800 kilometers and a 0 to 100 km / h in 3 seconds. These seem too high specifications for a vehicle of this nature, although MG could make those specifications public in the coming months.
On its starting price it is expected to be affordable, since MG presents very attractive final invoices in practically all the models in its range. Thanks to this, the MG Cyberster will be positioned very evenly at the starting price of some competent models with thermal mechanics, such as the Mazda MX-5 or the Toyota GR 86, that is, it could position itself as the only affordable electric convertible sports car on the market today.
