The Spanish technology wholesaler MCR presented in Madrid the electric scooters of the international manufacturer of two-wheeled electric vehicles NIU, which will be in charge of the exclusive distribution of this brand in Spain.
NIU, with a presence in 40 countries and more than a million units sold, has a complete product portfolio that includes motorcycles, bicycles and scooters.
In the case of the latter, the ‘flagship’ of the range is the NIU KQi3, a scooter finished in aerospace quality aluminum, with double disc brakes and that reaches 25 kilometers per hour and with a range of up to 50 kilometers , connecting via bluetooth through a smart app.
According to data from the Idéalo price comparison platform, interest in buying electric scooters increased by 142% in 2020, and the company expects them to be one of the stars this coming Black Friday and during the Christmas campaign.
“The volume of business represented by this product has increased notably in the last year, largely due to the rise in its average price”, explained the director of MCR Mobile, Alex Corporal. According to GfK estimates, this year more than 200,000 units will be sold in Spain and by 2022 it is expected that 250,000 will be reached.
“The world of mobility is acquiring an increasingly global meaning. The new mobility is no longer limited to a mobile phone or a dataphone; now we talk about mobility as a new lifestyle, and the truth is that the electric scooter is no longer it is seen as a toy, but as a comfortable, economical and ecological means of transport”, commented the CEO of MCR, Peter Quiroga.
“Now we will be able to find a technology that improves mobility in a sustainable way in stores, malls and supermarkets, and that will surely be one of the best-selling items in the coming months,” he added.
