Karsan presents its hydrogen bus in Madrid and announces its plans for Spain

In the framework of International Bus and Coach Fair (FIAA) Held from today until next Friday the 21st at IFEMA, Karsan, a Turkish company specializing in the manufacture and sale of 100% electric buses, today presented its roadmap for the European market and, in particular, its plans for Spain. The company aims to continue increasing its market share and leading the transformation of sustainable mobility.

The company highlighted that since its immersion in the European continent they have already sold more than 450 buses registering more than 5 billion kilometers traveled and they plan to multiply their presence in Europe by 3.

Hydrogen: the future of sustainable mobility

During the meeting, the entity also announced the launch of the new e-ATA hydrogen bus. As they explained, innovation is part of the brand’s DNA and the technological transformation that the sector is undergoing directly benefits both customers and end users of the buses. In this context, Karsan considers that hydrogen is the next step in the future of sustainable mobility.

According to company data, hydrogen buses currently represent 2% of the European market compared to 23% for electric buses. However, in 2026 hydrogen technology in public transport will account for 8% and 15% in 2030, while electric batteries will account for 35% in 2026 and 50% in 2030.

In this sense, this new vehicle joins the current Karsan range, which was already made up of 4 different models: e-JEST (leader in Europe with 51% of the market share); e-ATAK (leader in its segment with 30% of the market share); Autonomous ATAK; and the e-ATA, a new model that was launched just 1 year ago and already has more than 100 units sold in various countries such as Romania and Italy.

Future plans for the Spanish market

The company, which has been operating in Spain since 2020 through e-busKar, is now Karsan España, directed by Ángel Luis Estrella and Fran Ramis with the aim of developing electric mobility in urban transport in our country through of the commercialization and distribution of urban vehicles.
