Good and bad news with the Polestar 6: the most exclusive is already sold out

Polestar bringing the impressive Polestar O2 Concept to production, which in its production version will be called Polestar 6, is in itself great news for any car fan – and dare I say design. However, there is also bad news (if you wanted to get one): the most exclusive version is already sold out.

It is bad news in case you were thinking about the possibility of getting a Sky Blue Polestar 6, like the one that looks in the photos of this article, and in its initial launch version. For Polestar, there is no doubt, this is great news. After presenting the Polestar 6 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, the brand has placed the 500 copies assigned to the Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition, the most exclusive variant of the roadster.

The Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition will be the launch version of the Polestar 6, and also the most exclusive with production limited to 500 units. Its body will be painted in Sky blue and will have specific elements of this version, some of them taken directly from the Polestar O2 Concept presented last March.

The production Polestar 6 will hit the market in 2026

The Pebble Beach Concourse of Elegance not only brings together a multitude of classic and modern cars, it is also an unavoidable event for many of its owners, who, if necessary, do not hesitate to formalize a reservation for the novelties present there. Car manufacturers take advantage of the occasion to show their future launches there, knowing that Pebble Beach can bring dividends. It is also used as a test balloon: if a certain model (prototype) receives great acceptance, it can be the ultimate motivation for the manufacturer to take it into production.

In this case, Polestar had already announced before Pebble Beach that it would bring the Polestar 6 into production. It will do so by largely replicating the format we know: a statuesque electric roadster, with straight, angular lines and plenty of muscle. But we are not only talking about design. The Polestar 6 will be Polestar’s halo car in technical and performance terms.

Polestar 6 will be built on Polestar’s novel glued-aluminum architecture, which will serve as the basis for an 800-volt electrical system and at least two electric motors. In the Polestar O2 Concept, the two electric motors delivered 884 hp (650 kW) of power and 800 Nm of torquethanks to which it declared a 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

The other good news is that production will not be limited to 500 units of the special LA Concept edition. After those first 500 units, Polestar will start building the standard version of the Polestar 6. Such has been the demand that the company will start accepting reservations for the standard version this year, although the Polestar 6 will hit the market in 2026. Production of the model is scheduled to take place at the Polestar factory in Chongqing (China), where the Polestar 5 will also be manufactured, an electric sedan derived from the Polestar Precept Concept and which intends to compete with the Porsche Taycan.
