GAC’s new LFP batteries: 20% more energy and 1.5 million kilometers

Chinese electric car maker GAC has unveiled new battery technology using LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry that could achieve a range of 1,000 kilometers in an average electric car. The base of the cathodes of the cells of these batteries is formed by lithium iron phosphate (SmLFP), which, according to the manufacturer, represent a new generation of batteries based on this cobalt-free chemistry. This year, GAC has presented its lithium iron phosphate (SmLFP) technology) next generation based on microcrystalline technology. In January, GAC Aion announced the launch of the Aion LX Plus, which provides a range of up to 1,000 kilometers in the European NEDC cycle with a 144.4 kWh capacity battery pack.
