The new electric Nissan Townstar arrives in Europe, and therefore also in Spain, offering yet another alternative in the increasingly prolific market for electric vans as well as in Nissan’s electrified range.
The Nissan e-NV200 was for many years one of the few electric vans on the market. But the competition tightened and Nissan had to look for a replacement, a new van at the height of what the market demands. The answer is the new electric Nissan Townstar, a vehicle designed for professionals who carry out their work mainly in urban areas.
The electric Townstar has an electric motor that delivers 122 hp of maximum power and 245 Nm of torque engine. The motor, located on the front axle, sends power to the front wheels. The battery, for its part, has a 45 kWh capacity and allows the approval 300 kilometers of autonomy (WLTP). The battery can be recharged by alternating current of 11 kW or 22 kW of power, or by fast charging (CCS), which allows the battery to be recharged from 15% to 80% in 37 minutes.
Nissan’s new van shares a platform, technology and engine with the new electric Renault Kangoo E-Tech and the Mercedes-Benz eCitan. The three vans have similar benefits, although the Nissan approves a little more autonomy thanks, according to Nissan, to aerodynamic improvements. In terms of design, this model differs by the front grille with Kumiko patternwhich identifies the new Nissan DNA, the design of the rims and -logically- the brand logo.
Other important aspects that should be highlighted in a vehicle of this type: it has a payload up to 800kg and the cargo box has up to 4.9 cubic meters of capacity, with enough space to transport two Euro pallets. In addition, it has a towing capacity of up to 1,500 kg.
Between equipment of the Nissan Townstar we find a multimedia system with a 10-inch touch screen, a driving assistance system ProPILOT Assist (a first for Nissan commercial vehicles), 360-degree camera, heated front seats, blind spot vehicle warning system, active cruise control, emergency brake assist with pedestrian detection, trailer anti-sway assist and heat pump, which increases efficiency in cold conditions.
for now Nissan hasn’t announced pricing for the electric Townstar for the Spanish market.
