CUPRA Tavascan: this is the electric sports SUV that will arrive in 2024

The CUPRA Tavascan was shown publicly in 2019 during the Frankfurt Motor Show in the form of a concept vehicle. Since then, much has been said about its arrival, as well as the differences that the production model would show with respect to that first vehicle. A few hours ago, during the massive CUPRA presentation event, the Spanish company has finally shown what the model that will hit the market in 2024 will look like and that it will keep the name of the prototype, Tavascan.

CUPRA has carried out a brutal presentation and disembarkation of models during its event held at the Terramar Autodrome. There it has been revealed the launch strategy that the firm will carry out for the year 2025. The main reasons for this presentation were (in addition to the Tavascan) the CUPRA UrbanRebel, the urban electric model; the CUPRA Terramar, the natural substitute for the current Ateca; and, finally, the new CUPRA León and Formentor were timidly seen, which will debut a totally new image in the coming months.

The landing of models is such that the company will debut a new design language to definitively move away from SEAT. One of the most anticipated models was the CUPRA Tavascan, which It will arrive with a 100% electric mechanics in the year 2024 and with an important series of changes with respect to the conceptual model that was released almost three years ago.

First of all, the front end has received a major redesign. Its headlights are more in line with the rest of the models presented during the event, thus creating a much more homogeneous brand image than what has been seen so far, incorporating a light signature of three light points. The bumper now looks more up to the standards of a production model when compared to the concept model, as it the particular “chin” that welcomed the prototype disappears to propose an area with space for the license plate and some somewhat more concealed and decorative moldings.

CUPRA did not show the model in detail during the presentation, since a huge number of sections were left, both aesthetic and mechanical. In the aforementioned design section, the Tavascan did not show any appendage of its rear, although, presumably, very sporty design lines can be guessed. The original Tavascan Concept sported very particular shapes. In the lower area it showed the name of the model along with completely personal moldings. In the middle part, headlights were inserted, joined by an LED line that crossed the entire width of the car.a detail that will presumably incorporate the production model.

Joining the rear with the profile, in the images provided by CUPRA, denotes a C-pillar with a very pronounced fall, creating an image of an SUV coupé. New, more muscular lines have also been inserted on the side, as well as a new set of wheels much more in line with serial production.

The interior is expected to incorporate the two screens that already incorporates the CUPRA Born; a central and more generous one for the information and entertainment panel, as well as a more restrained one for the digital instrumentation. The concept model featured completely new interior trim and aesthetics that will most likely be inserted in the final production model.

The CUPRA Tavascan will go into production as a 2024 modelthat is, at the end of 2023 we could see the first units manufactured, while in the coming months, CUPRA will reveal all the aesthetic and technical details of this new electric SUV sports aesthetic. With this landing of models, the Spanish company expects to sell more than 500,000 cars a year and expand into new global markets.
