Confirmed the price of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV that Spain may not have

The Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid It is currently the most representative model of the Japanese brand globally, since in addition to being the largest model of the firm, its latest generation is a display of design and technology. Now its price has been confirmed in several countries, among which the Spanish is not, since the Japanese brand has decided to take a very different course in our market.

As confirmed by the North American division of Mitsubishi, the Outlander PHEV will have a starting price in the United States of $39,845, which based on the current exchange rate represents a little more than 41,300 euros.

The Japanese SUV will start in most of the markets for which it is confirmed during these last months of the year, while in Europe it will only be sold in select markets. The list of countries to which it will arrive on our continent is about to be definitively confirmed.

The main commercial weapon with which the Outlander PHEV will hit the streets is its electric autonomy, since based on the WLTP cycle (under which the European Union is governed) this plug-in hybrid SUV enjoys a homologated electric autonomy of 81 kilometers, which is more than any of its rivals. The Toyota RAV4 is, due to its characteristics, a very similar model and one of the few that can cope with the Outlander in electric autonomy, since it approves 75 kilometers.

The Outlander achieves this figure thanks, mainly, to a battery with a much higher capacity than usual in an SUV in its category. The Japanese SUV carries under the boot floor a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Despite the homologated 50 miles, the Outlander PHEV will most likely offer real autonomies in the environment of 60 kilometers (which is precisely what it homologates in the American EPA cycle), so it will be able to complete most daily journeys in electric mode.

The design of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, together with its electric autonomy, are its main purchase assets.

In addition, as the brand has confirmed, it is one of the few “non-luxury” models (mainly referring to Mercedes-Benz) that will offer the possibility of completing 80% of your battery charge in 30 minutes on a fast charger.

It is expected that Mitsubishi will confirm before the end of the year which markets will the Outlander finally go to in Europe, as well as the starting prices in our continent, and thus know definitively if the model will arrive in Spain or else we will miss a great plug-in hybrid SUV that could have very good commercial acceptance, as was the case with the previous generation.
